Chemical Free Living * Make-n-Take

~ Natural cleaning products and body care for the chem-free home!

ARG.  Well, a second presenter has had to cancel - somehow, this one is not meant to be!
We do plan to do this one again, but likely not until late May 2018 or the Fall...please check back in here for updates!

Join the Local Living Venture and Cat Bennett of Milkweed Tussock Tubers and Bittersweet Farm for a session that shares tips and techniques for natural cleaning and body care to keep your family healthy - and save some bucks on all of those products while you're at it!

Each participant will leave with a sample of a multi-purpose cleaner and a luxurious body butter - how cool is that!

Chemical Free Living * A Make-n-Take

Sunday, April 29
3 to 5 pm
UU Church, Canton, NY
(RSVP is needed for materials purchase, see To Register below.)

Okay, let it not be said that we aren't all made up of chemicals, and so not all "chemicals" are necessarily "bad" let us be more specific and say "Synthetic" Chemical-Free Living!  Even that doesn't quite cover it "technically," but we hope you get the drift!  We could all use a little less exposure to chemicals that are harmful to us, especially when applied directly to the skin (which is the largest organ in the body and does transmit to the bloodstream!)

Presenter Biography

Cat Bennett is a second-generation small-scale, organic farmer on her family's land in Depeyster, following in her family's footsteps by striving to rejuvenate the ecosystem in which she lives. Inspired by Environmental Health classes on pollutants that affect amphibians, she has been exploring ways to decrease the toxins she both absorbs herself and sends out into the waterways.  She has done in-depth studies on the uses of chemicals and dyes used in home and personal care products as well as plant-based versus synthetic SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulfate) and more.  As a special bonues, all attendees will receive a recipe for an inexpensive laundry soap!
Cat's mom Ann may also try to join us to share her experiences with simple living and the use of essential oils, too!  They both love to share how and why we should avoid all of those chemicals, especially in our homes and for items we use on our bodies!

Is needed in order to prepare enough materials for the items we'll be creating together.
