Woodland Botanical Wreaths * A Make-n-Take

The found objects of nature become amazing creations - made by you!

.

Local artisan Carol Simpson creates these beautiful, natural wreaths from found botanical objects in the woods and fields of the North Country.  She says: "I love playing with natural materials. I find all of these seed heads so interesting and beautiful.  I hope that the wreaths exhibit the beauty and diversity of material that is usually overlooked and stimulate the appreciation of nature's beauty all around us, right down to the 'weeds'!"

New Date due to weather postponement
Saturday, April 29   *  12 to 2 pm

Near West Stockholm (7.5 mi. from Potsdam.)
Limited to 6 participants, sign up soon!

Carol will share with you how you can make these beautiful 6" to 12" or larger wreaths, including a demo of how to make the base wreath from vines.  Drying techniques for botanicals will be discussed based on interest, and much more.

Don't think you're creative or artistic?  This is the workshop for you, with beautiful results so easily achieved!  Everyone will enjoy this "make-n-take" workshop, and will go home with their own creation, as well as the ability to make more at home..

PRESENTER

Carol moved to the North Country from Philadelphia, Pa. in 1982. While walking through the woods and fields she discovered the diversity of forms, shapes and beauty of wild flowers and grasses and their seed-heads.  She began experimenting on what was dry-able and would maintain color without falling apart. Her favorite is the milkweed pod!  She began weaving grapevines into wreaths and decorating them with the native botanicals from her woods walks.

Carol shares with us that: "...one need not “be creative” to compose a wreath. All you need is a playful attitude and know what you like as you choose materials and how to bunch and juxtaposition them. And there are plenty of completed wreaths to give you inspiration.  Many of these plants are growing all over, but go mostly un-noticed, especially in our busy culture. Others are in many North Country gardens. Arranging the materials together exhibits their complexity and diversity, and expands ones appreciation of the beauty of Mother Nature’s gifts. Sharing this appreciation creates more joy in my life."
