A hands-on workshop on "Do It Yourself (DIY) Winter and Summer Skin Care Products" has been announced. This "make and take" event will be held on Saturday, January 10th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Hannawa Falls, near Potsdam, NY.
The workshop is presented in partnership between DawnLight Herbals & More and the Local Living Venture, coordinator of "resourceful living skills" workshops within the St. Lawrence River Valley.
Making your own home-crafted skin care products is easy, fun, and puts you in control of what ingredients you are using for yourself and your family. Our skin is actually the largest organ of the human body, and what is applied to the skin can find it's way into the bloodstream of the user.
This is why it is often suggested that people apply the insecticide DEET to clothing and not to the skin to repel mosquitoes, for instance. What ingredients are applied to the skin is very important, especially for growing children, but also for people of all ages.
This session will cover making three different natural skin care items that attendees will assist in creating. The workshop presenter is Dawn Rosenbarker, proprietor of DawnLight Herbals. She has been creating salves, lip balms, lotions and skin care oils for over twenty years.
At the end of the workshop, participants will take home an all-natural skin care product that they made themselves in a group setting. Attendees will also take home the experience, recipes, and information needed to create more of the same in their own kitchens!
