CANTON, NY -- Interested in orcharding, growing fruits and perhaps nuts? New to it, or an old hand? Want to share tips and techniques with others in the area?
Have some questions you'd like ideas on, that are appropriate to our growing region? A new monthly event may be the place for you.
Based on the success of five years coordinating a monthly Bees and Beekeeping club format, the Local Living venture is planning a new monthly Discussion Group gathering for "treekeepers."
The Orchard Exchange & Discussion Group is a place where novice to advanced orchardists are welcome to attend and share their questions, successes and challenges in an informal group setting.
It is held the first Wednesday of each month on a pass-the-hat, free-will donation basis to support the club and the Local Living Venture workshop programming.
The gathering is held at the Betty Evans Community Room in the new wing of the E.J. Noble Medical Bldg. at 80 E. Main Street in Canton, NY. The entrance is on the left side, at street level. The building is next door to the Best Western and across from the Price Chopper on Rt. 11 in Canton, and will have an orange 'Local Living Workshop Site' lawn site near the door.
There will also be more in the Local Living Venture series of beginner to advanced workshops. An upcoming workshop is entitled "Pruning Your Apple Trees & Other Orchard Fruits - Hands-On" on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Details can be found at www.LocalLivingVenture.org/
