Primitive Fire Starting & Sweat Lodge

All ages are welcome to come and ignite their life and knowledge of Primitive Fire Making, with an optional Sweat Lodge to follow.

.
Celebrate Earth Day with primitive skills and deep cleansing!  During this wonderful session with Len Mackey we will explore the two oldest forms of fire-making, via the hand drill and bow drill; techniques that have lived for thousands of years.

We will learn how to construct a teepee fire structure of entirely natural materials to warm the heart, the spirit, and the stones for the sweat lodge (a form of sauna), rain or shine.

A sweat lodge ceremony will follow the fire-making fun for those who are interested, so bring your bathing suit and plenty of drinking water if you wish to enter the lodge following the fire-making workshop.

The benefits of deep sweating such as in a sweat lodge include stress relief, relaxation of muscle and aches, the flushing of toxins, refreshed skin tone, deeper sleep, improved cardiovascular performance, and the burning of calories.  And the benefit of doing it with Len is...it's just going to be fun!

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHY
Len Mackey has been attending and running sweat lodges for the past 17+ years for groups as large as 83 people and as cozy as two. Literally, thousands of people have gone through sweats he has helped facilitate. Over this time Len has found that the sweat lodge has a universal power to heal and connect people to the Earth, to themselves, their ancestors, and to each other.
Len has attended more than 25 classes at Tom Brown Jr.'s Tracker Survival School in NJ to further his knowledge of the primitive skills of survival and spiritual awareness.  He has been a Yoga and African Music instructor at St. Lawrence University, is a Reiki practitioner, and through Song of the Spheres shares an orchestra of multicultural programing, participatory and inspirational performances; a medley of artistry, sacred instruments and creative tools.
