This presentation with local natural health and whole foods maven and author Paula Youmell will focus on what healing with herbs entails, herbs for common conditions, and on ways to use herbs.
This is a how-to, though not fully a hands-on session. You will leave with some herbs to play with and a wonderful overview of all the world of herbs has to offer -- you'll have plenty of fuel to tinker with concoctions to your hearts content!
Paula will cover the use of capsules, teas, tinctures, ointments, poultices, and more for dietary and topical applications. She will also help you to place the use of herbs squarely within a framework of a healthful diet of whole foods for optimum cellular health - because if your cells aren't healthy, YOU aren't healthy!
April 23, 2015
6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Join us at Helping Hands in Hannawa Falls (see address and directions below)
Bring your curiosity and your questions; you will surely leave with plenty of new information to work with!
Everyone will get to take a little bag of a general healing blend (compliments of the Potsdam Food Co-op) to make an infusion with at home, as well. It is likely that nettles, red raspberry leaf, dandelion, red clover, oats in milky seed stage and more will be available so you will have some choice in what you take with you, based on what you learn may be useful to you.

A large stand of 'jewelweed' or 'touch-me-not' (Impatiens Biflora) is a welcome sight to anyone suffering from the poison ivy that so often grows companionably nearby! Make a mash poultice of the stalks for quick relief. Kids of all ages enjoy making the pretty orange or yellow flowers 'wink' as well, it's a real 'jewel' of a plant! (See http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Plants.Folder/Jewelweed.html for more fun information!)
