Hands on, free and open to the gardening public * Learn different techniques for planting your own pollinator wildflower habitat!

Wildflower Pollinator Garden
         Planting Workshop!

Free and open to the gardening public

SUNDAY JUNE 23, 3 to 5 pm
SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center

185 Outer Main St., Potsdam, NY

Reservations not required, but appreciated.

Each participant will have the opportunity to bring home a freepacket of wildflower seeds - to be a Pollinator Pal! - so you can plant your own pollinator habitat at home!

This event is a hands-on workshop and will take place rain or shine.
Dress appropriately for the weather and gardening; shelter will be available.
Free and open tothe gardening public (though free-will donations to support Pollinator Protection programming is greatly appreciated!)

The new garden habitat will be an important addition to the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center as a natural outdoor learning space.  It will provide a child-friendly, interactive, educational area to be well tended and enjoyed for years to come.
However, this workshop is suitable for adult participation.

Pollinator gardens help promote and maintain local pollinators including bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.  They provide nutrients and habitat essential to pollinators to ensure they will continue to thrive in St. Lawrence County, pollinating local crops and maintaining local biodiversity and ecosystem health.
Details on the free wildflower seed program can be found at the website bit.ly/PollinatorProgram for those who are unable to attend the workshop but would like to join the Pollinator Pals in planting a wildflower garden.
The Wildflower Pollinator Planting Workshop is a hands-on event with coordination by the WISER Center, the Local Living Venture and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe, partners in the Pollinator Protection Program, which includes a free wildflower seed distribution program called "Pollinator Pals," made possible by a grant from the Alcoa Foundation.

Thanks also to the St. Lawrence University Public Interest Corps for providing Summer Intern Alyssa LaCoy, and to SUNY Potsdam's WISER Center Intern Eric Rotila, who are helping to coordinate and prepare for this community educational event.
