My name is Robin Lazore. I am a Mohawk from Akwesasne. I have been making baskets since I was 16 years old. I was taught by my elders. I lived with Mary Jocko on Cornwall Island district, and she taught me the basics of basket making. I have continued to work and improve on my skills, taking different classes with Irene McDonald and many others. I sell my baskets to many people and museums all over the United States. The Oneida Nation and Seneca Nation sell my baskets. I really enjoy making baskets and continuing the Mohawk tradition that not many people do any more. My daughters help me out cleaning my splits and helping me weave. One day I hope they carry on the tradition of basket making.
